Here are some good tips for you:

• Avoid the taxi during the day, especially in the morning until 11 am and again between 4 and 8 pm. The roads are saturated at these times and your taxi fare will go up while you stay at a standstill! Take the metro instead: it's simple, cheaper and very fast

• Taxi prices: lthe taxi meter displays the fare and one of the three following letters: A, B or C. If you are in Paris intramuros or on the Boulevard Périphérique, rate A applies during the day from 6 am to 8 pm, and rate B at night until 6 am. When you leave Paris intramuros, the driver will switch to rate B during the day, and then to rate C as from 8 pm. If you are a long way from Paris rate C applies at all times. You will pay a supplement for any luggage loaded in the boot, and if you take the taxi from the airport.
